Our Story

Elim Church Northampton (ECN) was founded in 1967 following an evangelistic campaign led by Evangelist Alex Tee. From those early days right through to today, our mission has remained the same: to reach people with the life-changing good news of Jesus Christ.

Over the past five decades, ECN has grown into a vibrant family church made up of people from more than 40 nationalities and every generation. We are passionate about being a church that is friendly, relevant, and life-giving – a place where everyone is welcome, everyone can belong, and everyone can encounter God.

Our story is still being written, and we are excited for all that God has in store for the future.

The Elim Movement

ECN is part of the Elim family of churches.

The Elim movement began in a way that was nothing short of remarkable. It was 1915, and the world was in the grip of the First World War. In the midst of fear, uncertainty, and loss, a small group of young men in Monaghan, Ireland, invited Welsh evangelist George Jeffreys to hold a series of meetings. Their hunger for God and their bold faith stirred something in him.

On 7 January 1915, in the Temperance Hall, the Elim Evangelistic Band was formed. Their vision was simple yet powerful: to share the Christian gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit, across Ireland and far beyond. What began as a small spark soon grew into a movement that would touch nations.

Today Elim operates all around the world. In the UK we are one of around 500 churches committed to raising and releasing disciples of Christ that impact towns and cities across the nations. Visit the Elim website at elim.org.uk.
